For 6PC, which was set up for 'gay professionals', it is sufficient that you are interested in networking, in actively participating in the community. If you are interested in us, we are interested in you. You do not need to have a degree or proof you are a successful 'professional'.

As we are a network of people, the inclusion of a face pic is desirable. This makes it easier to network and establish a social , personal or professional contact. If you feel uncomfortable using a picture on your profile, please contact our webmaster to ask how your application can be processed without one.
We don't necessarily need it, but it does tell us when your birthday is It also tells your age – thus experience. (yes, we know, age can be a BIG issue among gays, but please be professional about it) If, for whatever reason, you feel uncomfortable using your real date of birth on your profile, please use a "fake" DOB. But again, be professional, this is NOT a dating site and age is something to be proud of!
As we are a network of people, and not a chat box, we like to call you by your name. Hence, nicknames are not allowed. If you feel uncomfortable using your real name on your profile, please use an assumed name, as long as it looks like a real one.
In order to network and communicate, the other network members need to know who you are, what you do, what you are an expert in, what you would like to share with the community. In order to get a good idea of who you are, we ask for 1,500 characters or about 20 lines. This is, on average, 1 line per 1 – 2 YEARS of your life… It does not all have to be vital info. Your profile should be a descriptive presentation of you, your background, education, work experience, hobbies and interests.
We have found that people, when confronted with the need to "complete" the application up to 1,500 characters, often come up with additional information about themselves that is quite interesting: hobbies, dreams, trips, interests. If you are young, i.e, 24 or younger, you can write a bit less, and fill the rest with spaces or xxxx, so that the system accepts your application form (we will edit them out). However, do try to write about the items above, we really like to know who you are! Of course you can cheat and fill your application with someone else's info, copy five lines a number of times, or use many xxx or spaces. This will get you through the application process, but not through the review process. Please respect the guidelines and our time.

In order to network and communicate, we need to know who you are, what you do, what you are an expert in, what you would like to share with the members. It would not be fair to other members to admit you with limited information about yourself. Who could better talk about you, than… you? Please don't see writing up your background as bragging, arrogant or pretentious. Just be yourself, be professional.
No, it would not be fair to other members to admit you with limited information about yourself.
You can always update your profile afterwards. Just write, in your own words, what you want to tell us.

You can use your CV as a basis, but it often contains information that is focused at selling yourself to get a new job. So you may have to rewrite it. Also, a CV is often a bulleted listing of items. Your profile should be a descriptive presentation. In order to make the scanning of profiles easier, they all have the same structure: (Short intro), Education, Job, Work Experience, Expertise & Skills, Languages, Hobbies and Interests.
No, networking is a person to person activity. To contact a couple can be intimidating, as it places a person into a "minority" position. Of course, both partners are most welcome to join (and to refer to each other's profile, as there is no possibility to link them). Membership is free, so….
