On April 3 2002, our Board Member Matthias Stoss was murdered on his way home from work. He was only 36 years old. Matthias was a member of 6PC from the early days of the Network.
Matthias (1965) was born in Germany and moved to live in Johannesburg, South Africa in 1999. He was a physician. His main focus in work was on HIV/AIDS, research with plants and plant products. His main focus in life was to show that change is possible that people matter and that a humane globalisation is possible.
Matthias worked in the townships, in a charity hospital to help the poorest people and give them access to HIV/AIDS medication. This is what he believed in.
Mathias believed in the reality of a spiritual world which for him was as real as the physical world. His dreams and beliefs, and his generous spirit, have eventually led to his tragic death.
On November 12 2003, "The Star" newspaper in Johannesburg reported: “HIJACKER GETS 24 YEARS FOR KILLING. Prince Nkosana Sebati, convicted of the murder of Dr Mathias Stoss during a hijack attempt in 2002, has been sentenced by the Johannesburg High Court to 24 years imprisonment”.
Although no punishment will bring Matthias back to his family and us, we are relieved to see that justice was done.
As an Honorary Board member, Matthias will remain in our midst.
